An exhibition titled "July 15" featuring AA photographs opened in Izmir

An exhibition titled "July 15" featuring AA photographs opened in Izmir

Governor Süleyman Elban, at the opening of the exhibition at İstinyePark Shopping Mall, said that Türkiye encountered a betrayal unlike any it has ever witnessed in its history on July 15, 2016.

Elban emphasized that the coup attempt was thwarted thanks to the nation's great sacrifice and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's resilience, saying, "The country was brought back from great chaos, destruction, and, God forbid, the brink of division. However, this treacherous coup attempt exacted a heavy toll on our nation. That day, it claimed 252 martyrs and over 2,500 veterans."

Elban expressed his hope that Türkiye would not face a similar situation like the treacherous coup attempt on July 15th.

Elban stated that the treacherous coup attempt should not be forgotten and its freshness in our memories should be preserved. He said, "We are opening our exhibition to keep memories of the coup attempt fresh and alive, and to share this with our youth by displaying some symbolic photographs depicting the events that took place in many parts of our country during the treacherous coup attempt. We also thank the Anadolu Agency managers and staff for their contributions."

Later, the ribbon was cut to mark the opening of the exhibition.

AA Izmir Regional Director Ahmet Caner Baysal briefed Governor Elban about the photographs in the exhibition.

The exhibition features 38 photographs taken by AA reporters and photojournalists on the day of the coup attempt and its aftermath.

Visitor Tan Yengi stated that the exhibition featured impressive photographs.

Yengi, who explained that he examined the photographs in detail, said, "July 15th was a turning point for Türkiye. This needs to be conveyed to the public more effectively. AA is acting as an intermediary here."

The exhibition will open tomorrow at Optimum AVM, on July 13 at Hilltown Karşıyaka AVM, and on July 14 at Konak Atatürk Square.
